The Future of In-House Creative Leadership: Rae Stones, ECD AT OLIVER + Internationally Acclaimed Executive Creative Director
29 October 2024
Rae Stones is an Executive Creative Director of international acclaim, with an illustrious career spanning the leading agencies of Paris, New York, Amsterdam and London.
The idea she is most proud of is Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty - a reflection of the insightful, culture-shaping work for which she is renowned.
Her creative acumen has won her accolades for every coveted show in the UK and internationally.
How It All Started
Rae Stones shares her non-linear career path, starting at Ogilvy during the rise of digital marketing until she then experienced burnout, and transitioned to PR before moving to freelancing.
Rae initially declined an offer from Oliver due to past negative experiences with advertising agencies but reconsidered when the opportunity involved working with The Guardian. Rae's role at The Guardian evolved from head of copy to Co-creative Director, leading to a successful campaign for The Guardian's 200th anniversary, which won multiple awards.
Why In-House Roles?
Because the roles are unique! Going in-house allows for a deeper understanding of client brands and their challenges, which is crucial for creating effective and innovative work.
Being an AI Optimist
AI is an amplifier of existing skills and creativity, allowing for increased productivity and efficiency in their work. But be warned, we can't rely on AI or else it will result in poor-quality advertising without the nuance of human insight and direction in creative work.
