Imposter syndrome disproportionately impacts women. 75% of female executives say that they have experienced it at some point in their life. Amelia Sordell is back this week to take you through her guide for facing imposter syndrome + ridding it from your life.

  1. Normalise these feelings! It is not a medical condition, it is self doubt. It's only human and something that everyone experiences, particularly if you are a high performer.

  2. You don’t get growth from doing things you are qualified to do. Remember it will keep you competitive, don’t let it hold you back.

  3. There is a big confidence gap between men and women. Studies show that women will only apply for a role if they meet 80-100% of criteria for that role. Amelia argues that just because you aren’t fully qualified for something, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go for it and take the leap! Put yourself forward for the promotion and pay rise you think you deserve.

  4. Take action over perfection, otherwise you’ll be waiting forever. It’s important to know that you can grow into the role, most of the time we are promoted for potential!

  5. Silence the inner critic. Would you speak negatively to a friend or colleague? If you wouldn’t, then it’s time to start cheering for yourself both internally and externally.

  6. Surround yourself with other confident and supportive women. The thriving attitude is infectious, and it will bolster you up to a f**k it mentality so you can go get what you deserve.
